I've been keeping my head down in the lab here in Edinburgh, the G8 rally has passed by our building, helicopters buzzing overhead, bombs exploding in London, but life goes on, fortunately without incident to me or my family but unfortunately for those caught up in the blast. Of course this is very sad, but also to be expected after our continued dablings in other country's affairs and our dodgey business deals. I am content to leave politics on the backburner whilst I continnue my research, but I do plan a visit to Africa next year to see the situation there for myelf. What a glum post, but I felt I should comment on both the G8 in Edinburgh and the bombings in London.

HI Jaemie, well I did go ont he Make Poverty History March, but they penned us in like sheep through a sheep dip as we set off. I didn't like it and left. Of course I support reducing world poverty, so I think it was good to create some public awareness. I hang out a bit outside the Forrest Cafe where there was a street party on the Saturday night, but there were a lot of police there and it was soon moved on. Yes, see you last week of July. Are you still in Iran?
Hi Mandy, look forward to e-mail, and hope to make contact with Chris's sister, cheers. John
