I arrived in Edinburgh yesterday after taking the 7am train from Kings Cross in London. Dad gave me a lift at 6am to KC, and the train only took 4 and a half hours, London to Hull used to take 3, so I do not feel much further away from home than before. I think I am going down with a cold, but I will persevere and pretend I am fine.

I am very lucky to be living with Jim, he's the brother of Jaemie a friend I met in china 3 years ago, and he is doing a PhD here in Edinburgh. He's got a great apartment, and I have a beautiful room overlooking two other streets of old houses. From the living room you can see Arthur's seat, the big rock to the east of the city, It's beautiful. Still a little work being done in the house, waiting for a carpet and the kitchen will be re-done in a few weeks, but I will be happy here, I can tell. We also have broadband internet.

Off out now to meet the international office here at the university and offer to volunteer at the freshers events. Then to buy a new phone and PDA I hope. It's very windy but warm, the sun keeps poking out and then going back in. Not much rain so far :D

See you all soon, John
