Blog postings are few and far between recently, but I will now tell you what I have been doing with my time:

Working in the library here at Hull.
Working as a note-taker for disabled students here at Hull.
Final Year Project. (not as much time as I would have liked)
Homeless Project- not going very well, enough volunteers to go down to the dockhouse shelter, but a bit unorganised as to what we can do down there and how volunteers are needed.
Japanese - as this is 1/8th of my degree, I have been putting a fair amount of work into it, had a test last week and another tomorrow and another coming up.
Other classes- going well but 2 bits of coursework due in next monday.

had another cold this weekend. went to STAR Student Action for Refugees weekend in NOttingham which was very rewarding.
Went to Leeds to visit Jamae and Cathy, who had a bonfire party.
Mary came up for Hull fare and we went to Jazz club, started singin a few songs at the sailmakers arms on Sunday nights. Jon from Seattle is a Jazz legend and plays Sax, Guitar, Piano, Banjo plus more I'm sure, he has gone down well at Jazz club, which now has a regluar following from accross the atlantic, including Ronan and Katarina (friends of Mandy's from UC San Fransisco) Jasmine, Chris, Roz, Mel, Fay plus more from all over the states, and Andre from germany and Nora from Luxembourg (only 400,000 people in Luxembourge, I'm proud to know one of them)
Playing Guitar in Chinese with Qi Ming and Ben, but not nearly enough. Guitar has a bigger crack than before from the Party in Leeds.
Bass behavior going well at the Adelphi, the night John and Arji set up, plus Matt Hill does Funky which is also going well.
Quit job as too many hours coupled with the fact I was complaining too much about the computer services to be able to work for them anymore....
Met my cousin Seth (31) who I'vd never met before, and Henrietta his girlfriend, and Milo, my first cousin, who is 5 months old. very cute. and nice to meet up with that side of the family.

Looking forward to sarah and simon's wedding in April, first and last exam on Dec 9th, but no travel plans at the moment. NY is off as Jennifer is going back to Mexico with Adele. May just concentrate on my project and learning C++.

wanted soon: sailing club, meet MP about Refugees, video of malaysia for science club here.

more to come, john

This is bioinformatics, the computational power needed to decifer the human genome, and what I am going ot apply to Edinburgh, Manchester and Newcastle to study. The USA and Canada are out at the moment, as I would require previous study of biology to go there, but in the UK I do not need to have studied it before. It comes from the differences between undergraduate degrees in the UK and USA, in USA you study 2 years (?) of general studies before you major in something. So those who want to do Bioinformataics in the States, would have taken some biology beforehand probably.EducationGuardian.co.uk | Research | Cambridge completes 2bn-letter dictionary of DNA
